"DONALD TRUMP’S CAMPAIGN WAS LEFT scrambling Sunday night after roast-comic Tony Hinchcliffe made insulting jokes about Hispanic and black people on stage at the ex-president’s Madison Square Garden rally.
The lines sparked immediate backlash and even condemnation from fellow Republicans. But four top campaign sources said it could have been even worse."

In the final week ahead of the presidential election, Republican Donald Trump's campaign is facing widespread backlash after his rally Sunday at Madison Square Garden, where conservative comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico "an island of garbage" and others leaned into racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric. We speak to journalist Jean Guerrero, who has published books on Trump's white nationalist agenda and her own Latina and Puerto Rican identity. Trump is "seeking to restrict the notion of what it means to be American," says Guerrero. Trump and his supporters are not only othering immigrants and people of color, she argues, but anyone who does not fit a narrow, right-wing view of citizenship. "If you are a liberal, if you believe in compassion and equality and freedom for all, you do not belong in Donald Trump's America."

The polls in the US election are incredibly tight, but if Donald Trump loses there are concerns that he will refuse to accept the results, as he did in 2020.
In 2020, Trump repeatedly - and falsely - claimed the election had been stolen, with his allies launching multiple legal challenges.
On 6 January, some of his supporters stormed the US Capitol.
The BBC's analysis editor Ros Atkins looks at what might happen this time.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump holds a news conference at his residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump has gone back to the policy focus that launched him into the presidency in 2016 by placing immigration at the heart of his 2024 campaign, a strategy he hopes will help him secure a lead over Democratic rival Kamala Harris in the run-up to next month’s election.

He is also vowing to recreate the low-inflation economy of his first term to win over voters angry at the steep rises in prices and interest rates during Joe Biden’s four years in the White House.
Unlike his failed 2020 re-election campaign, when he did not even have a manifesto, Trump, 77, has made numerous pledges and set out plans that give American voters a real taste of his ambitions for a second term as US president.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced he is dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Vice-President Kamala Harris instead. Joe Walsh, a former Republican candidate for president, says the move has made Trump and his supporters the ‘most unhappy people in America’ because Trump has always had a difficult time attacking strong woman like Harris.

The head of the US Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle has said she plans to resign following security lapses in the run up to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers called on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to step down following the assassination attempt of Donald Trump.
The demand came during and after a hearing on Monday that questioned Ms Cheatle about her agency's security preparations ahead of the 13 July rally in Pennsylvania.
The shooting left one person dead and three others, including Trump, wounded.

USA: Donald Trump schwitzt! Plötzlich liegt Kamala Harris in einer aktuellen Umfrage vorn! | STREAM
